Ryedale deli makes the shortlist for the Great British Food Awards

Hunters of Helmsley has been nominated for the Great British Food Awards for the third year running – but it needs help to make sure it brings home the trophy later this year.

The awards launched in 2014 to recognise the best in British food and drink, including restaurants, producers, chefs, food writers and retailers. There are 20 categories in total.

Hunters is nominated in the Best Independent Retailer category (North) and is one of six finalists. The voting is now open to members of the public, who have a chance of winning £7,000 worth of prizes, such as kitchen gadgets and foody getaways, when they cast their votes. Voting, which is open until 24th August 2018, can be done at www.greatbritishfoodmagazine.com/awards

Christine Garnett, who owns the Hunters of Helmsley deli with husband Chris, said: “We were stunned to make the shortlist for the third year running. It really does mean so much when we’re recognised for the hard work the team puts in – we love what we do, but of course, you want customers to enjoy it just as much! We hope people will go online and vote for us (and maybe win themselves a prize at the same time) – and we’ll keep our fingers tightly crossed for the awards results later in the year.”

Hunters has been based on Helmsley’s picturesque Market Place for 28 years and was previously awarded the title of Britain’s Best Small Shop at the House of Commons. For more information about Hunters of Helmsley visit www.huntersofhelmsley.com or follow them on Facebook/Twitter.
