Lazenby Visuals celebrates the arts on its first anniversary

Helmsley art gallery, Lazenby Visuals, is celebrating its first anniversary with a day jam-packed full of treats and the opportunity to see live art in action.

Lazenby Visuals launched in July 2015 as a brand-new studio and art gallery in the picturesque town of Helmsley, North Yorkshire, based in the Walled Garden craft units.

On Saturday 2nd July festivities will include appearances from local artists James McGairy from Guisborough and Bree Merryn from Skipton. James, who takes inspiration from the Moors, Dales and coast, recently appeared as a contestant on Sky Arts’ ‘Landscape Artist of the Year 2015’. Bree has a deep interest in drawing the beautiful rural surroundings of Yorkshire and specialises in figurative and animal art. Both artists will be in-store creating art in a live capacity – a rare treat for attendees!

As well as artists putting pen, paint and pencils to paper, local singer David Swann will be in the gallery serenading visitors with his tuneful melodies. David is a singer and songwriter from Ryedale, North Yorkshire, who composes songs about the people, places and history of his native county as well as songs about love lost and found.

Owned by Chris Lazenby, a local artist with a background in graphic design and architecture, Lazenby Visuals offers design services, bespoke picture framing and a gallery open to the public with changing and varied exhibitions from local artists. Work ranges from graphic illustrations to collectable framed prints and traditional landscapes. Chris also continues to work in both graphic design and architecture from his studio in Helmsley.

On top of the in-store performances, discounts and special offers will be available on works of art and on framing. Attendees will also be given the chance to enter various competitions to win paintings and other prizes.

Chris Lazenby said: “We have had a great first year, the shop has gone from strength to strength and we really feel part of the community. Helmsley is a great place to work, the beauty both inside and outside of the town provides endless inspiration and the talent we have here is second to none. We’re really looking forward to celebrating the arts and our one-year anniversary and hope that many people will come along to join in the fun.”

The special occasion will take place on the 2nd July at Unit 3 Walled Garden, Helmsley, North Yorkshire, Y062 5AH.
