Cheers to ‘Perfect Pour’ masterclasses at Helmsley’s first gin festival

Local gin producers come on board for Ginilicious Festival on 4th August along with live musician Val Bilton

Helmsley’s first ever gin festival will be offering ‘Perfect Pour’ masterclasses to festival-goers keen to learn how to make a faultless G&T.

Organisers of the Ginilicious Festival have announced that Scottish producer Eden Mill Gin will be hosting the masterclasses using its popular Love and Golf gins. Each masterclass will last approximately 15 minutes and include a gin and tonic. Places are limited and can be booked on the day on a first come, first served basis.

Other confirmed gin producers taking part in the event are Yorkshire based Slingsby, Whittaker’s Gin, and Rare Bird brands.

Ginilicious takes place on 4th August at Helmsley Town Hall. Gin-lovers can book into the afternoon session, running from 12.30pm until 4.30pm, or the evening session, from 6pm to 10pm. There will be the opportunity to sample from a selection of 50 gins, meet specialist craft distillers as well as enjoy entertainment. Tickets cost £15.00 per person, which includes a Copa de Balon glass, which can be taken home, and tokens for two gin and tonics, along with a Ginilicious guide to the gins available. Additional gin and tonics will be available to buy using a token system.

Val Bilton, singer and acoustic guitar player, will provide entertainment at both sessions, performing a mix of contemporary and more classic covers.

Behind the festival is Helmsley Wines, a wine merchant and specialist in gins, whiskies and brandies, based in the award-winning North Yorkshire market town of Helmsley. Jayne Potter, who owns the business with husband Mal, said: “It’s fantastic news that we’ve got some premium quality local producers coming along, and the masterclasses with Eden Gin will no doubt be extremely popular. Your G&Ts will never be the same again! We’re delighted with how ticket sales have gone since we launched six weeks ago, and we’ve had dozens more people come and tell us they plan on attending, so of course we’d urge them to get a ticket while they still can!”
