Local business celebrates anniversary with plans for expansion and new jobs

Viva Hair is celebrating its 4th anniversary at the Barkers Yard development in Helmsley with a recruitment drive and plans for expansion.

Celebrating a 20 per cent growth in the business following its move into the new development, which is owned by the Duncombe Park Estate, the hairdressers has taken on two extra members of staff to create a team of six at the popular salon, which first opened its doors in Helmsley in 1983.

To cope with the rising number of customers, Viva Hair also now plans some internal building alterations to increase the number of stylists’ chairs available, which should be completed by the end of the month.

To celebrate the salon will be offering a complimentary glass of prosecco with any appointment in the week of 18th April.

Mandy Silk, owner of Viva Hair, said: “The move to Barkers Yard has been fantastic for the salon. We’re much more visible here, so we get more passing footfall than at our previous premises. And of course Helmsley winning the Great British High Street Award has meant there are lots more people in the town generally, which is great for all of the businesses based here! I’d like to welcome our new team member Julie, and Chloe who has returned to us after maternity leave. We’re very lucky to have such a fantastic team – we wouldn’t still be growing over 30 years on if it wasn’t!”
