Creative crafting workshops to be held in Helmsley

The creative duo behind The Crafty Pair in Helmsley will be running crochet and needle felting workshops in February and March for those keen to learn or improve their crafting skills.

A Beginners Crochet workshop will take place on Friday 21st February from 10am to 12 noon. An Easter Chicks needle felting class, suitable for beginners, will run on Monday 16th March from 10am to 1pm. Both take place at The Crafty Pair, with all materials, tea, coffee and biscuits included in the price, which is £25 and £30 respectively.

The Crafty Pair, run by Hils Hawkins and Barbara Hirst, opened on Helmsley’s Cleveland Way in December 2018. As well as offering crafting materials it provides a retail outlet for local crafters, including a silver maker, wood turner, needleworker, glass worker, photographer, knitter and potter. It also offers workshops and courses and private parties for craft lovers.

Hils Hawkins said: “We love to run workshops and share our passion for crafting with others. Many of the skills we use could easily be lost if people don’t continue to pass them on. There’s something so special about being able to make something beautiful all on your own. For those who have never tried needle felting before, it uses wool and a barbed needle to create 3D shapes – in the case of our March workshop, cute Easter chicks!  We always use British wools and we often source from a local lady who has her own small flock which she then uses to prepare, dye and spin yarns and wools.”

Anyone interested in booking a place can register their interest through The Crafty Pair’s Facebook page or by calling 01439 770332.
