Beer lovers head to Helmsley for a n-ice (cream) pint

Hunters of Helmsley introduces Beer Floats to celebrate International Beer Day

Beer and ice cream may not sound the most likely of combinations – but that’s what one Helmsley deli will be offering in honour of International Beer Day on 4th August.

A choice of an alcoholic or non-alcoholic Ginger Beer Float will be on sale through Hunters of Helmsley’s ice cream window from 4th August until further notice.

Customers can choose from Crabbies alcoholic or Fentimen’s non-alcoholic ginger beer, which will be served in a takeaway pint glass, topped with either rich and creamy vanilla or tangy ginger ice cream, both from local firm Brymors.

Christine Garnett, who owns Hunters of Helmsley with husband Chris, said: “We wanted to do something in honour of International Beer Day, and we were all reminiscing about the Coke Floats we used to enjoy as a child – so it seemed like a great idea to combine the two! We’re using the very best ginger beer – whether it’s the alcoholic or soft variety – and adding our favourite local ice cream from nearby Brymors. The combination is utterly delicious, and very refreshing on a warm day. We think even those who wouldn’t normally bat an eyelid at a beer celebration will be pleasantly surprised, and it’s something a little bit different for the beer traditionalists!”

The alcoholic version will cost £3.95 and the non-alcoholic £3.50. Both are available from the Hunters of Helmsley store, which has been based on Helmsley’s picturesque Market Place for more than 25 years. For more information visit www.huntersofhelmsley.com
