Make it a Crafty Christmas with a special Helmsley event

Walled Garden to hold festive afternoon of crafts, shopping and exhibitions

Following a successful inaugural event in 2015, Helmsley Walled Garden and craft units will once again hold a special fun-filled festive afternoon on Friday 25th November 2016.

The event will run from 2-6pm. After walking through the twinkling lights and festive music that will fill the walkway from Cleveland Way car park, visitors to the Walled Garden will find mulled wine and an array of beautiful homemade wreaths and Christmas gifts. Revelers will also have the opportunity to taste and buy unique apple juice varieties created from the apples grown in the garden’s very own orchard.

The businesses based in the garden’s surrounding Craft Workshops will also be putting on special activities and demonstrations. David Tomlinson from the Helmsley Natural Health Clinic will be demonstrating the Emmett Technique and Bowen Therapy. A special stick making display from Keith Pickering, who famously produced the ‘magic stick’ which played a starring role in blockbuster Nanny McPhee, will show craftsmanship at its finest.

Celebrate Country Cake Design will tempt passers-by with homemade fruit cake and gingerbread samples whilst Lazenby Visuals will be running special offers and framing demonstrations, as well as having local artists in the studio painting live.

This year the event will also include a variety of local craft stalls in the car park for the craft units, raising money for IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services).

Chris Lazenby, from Lazenby Visuals, said: “Last year’s event was a great success and we can’t wait to make this year’s even bigger and better. It gives us a great opportunity to demonstrate some of the many talented craftspeople in Helmsley, and help people get into the festive spirit! All of our businesses are members of Helmsley in Business which encourages us to work together in partnership, and everyone in the town is so supportive of each other. We’re lucky to be based in such a beautiful location and we look forward to welcoming visitors to check it out for themselves on 25th!”
