Helmsley starts fundraising for an extra bright 2016 festive season
Some days it may not even feel like winter 2015 has quite finished yet, but the Helmsley in Business group is already thinking ahead to Christmas 2016!
A fundraising quiz night for the town’s Christmas Lights is to take place on April 28th at 7pm at Scotts Fish and Chips Restaurant.
Tickets cost £12 each, including a fish and chip supper and entry to the quiz. Entrants can come in teams of four or join together with other contestants on the night.
Tickets can be bought from Viva Hair in Barkers Yard, or Libby Butler Jewellers on Borogate.
This is the first in a series of events to raise money for the lights fund, with a wine tasting event planned at Porters Coffee Shop in July.
Tony Porter, Helmsley in Business committee member and owner of Porters Coffee Shop, said: “We know residents and visitors really appreciate all the new lights Helmsley in Business has funded in the last three years, because of the great feedback we’ve received. We’ve added extra every year, but they are so expensive. That said, we won’t stop until the whole town is twinkling, so please support us and come along to these fantastic fundraising events – which are also great nights out in themselves! Thanks also to all of those who contributed via the shop collection boxes, which have raised £325.”
The Helmsley in Business group is also asking that anyone wanting to sponsor or donate towards the lighting up of their street – or Helmsley as a whole – should contact Tony Porter at Porters Coffee Shop or Chris Garnett at Hunters of Helmsley.
