On yer bike

Helmsley is a popular biker destination, and the bikes parked in the market square are an attraction in themselves most days.  Helmsley welcomes all so you won’t see “Bikers are welcome” signs here – that’s a given!

The annual MAG Farmyard Party in Duncombe Park is a weekend not to be missed whether you are a biker, or a bike fan. The town becomes a sea of black leather clad bikers all partying away – there’s always a friendly atmosphere and it’s definitely a sight to behold!

There are some great roads to explore, like the famous “Helmsley TT” to Stokesley. Many bikers like a ride to Helmsley for Fish and Chips or a coffee to enjoy on the Lord Feversham Monument from any of our fabulous delis, butchers, bakers or cafes while they watch the other bikes come and go, and chat with locals and visitors.

Many bikers are Helmsley regulars and come back time and time again throughout the year with their families, so it’s not all about the roar of the exhaust!

Just bear in mind that not that long ago, our famous Castle Stores roped some bikers in to help out with the Worldwide Knit in Public Day – the picture of them in sat there knitting in their leathers even made the paper! You never know what’s in store on a trip to Helmsley…
